GET IN THE GAME with NIGEL RIDGWAY of bet365
********************************************

NFL
***
WEEK 2 RECAP – COLTS NOW 4/1 FOR THE TITLE
There were some comfortable wins for the bigger teams in Week 1, with
Pittsburgh’s win over Houston one of the most anticipated results by
bettors. The Eagles were also very well-backed with stacks of money on them
at -13.5. Anyone betting ‘under’ did well on Sunday, with ten games going
under the total (more of that later). Indy’s failure to cover the points
spread was surprising, but not to ‘in the game’ followers who took the
advice to back the Jags ATS last week. This was still a good performance by
the Colts, who are now 4/1 clear favorites for the Super Bowl. Meanwhile,
Minnesota’s horrible start to the season continued, and they’re now 28/1
for the title, while New England (11/2) look a shadow of the team that has
won three of the last four Super Bowls.

bet365 latest Super Bowl prices … Indianapolis 4/1, New England 11/2,
Philadelphia 13/2, Atlanta, Pittsburgh 10/1, Carolina 14/1, others on
bet365 website.

WEEK 3 RUNDOWN – DEFENSE THE KEY AGAIN
So far this season there has been a definite trend for the totals to go
‘under’. Last week, the under went 9-3-1 making it 19-8-1 for the season,
which suggests that defence has been the major story so far. The Colts and
Rams are much improved as far as the points they allow, while the Steelers,
Patriots, Bears, Bucs, Bills, Falcons and Eagles look just as strong
defensively as last season. Look for the trend to continue this week.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Chicago Bears – UNDER 39.0 POINTS @ 10/11
Cincinnati have taken advantage of a couple of struggling football teams in
the early going, but Chicago will present their toughest defensive test
yet, having allowed a total of just 15 points in their two games!

Carolina Panthers @ Miami Dolphins – UNDER 36.5 POINTS @ 10/11
The offences will be no match for the defences as the Panthers are set to
invade South Florida. The Miami offence will struggle to move the ball and
this bet365 number is way too big!

A $50 parlay on the above two games pays out $191.34 - which includes a
bet365 bonus of 5%

ON THE REBOUND
NY Giants @ SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (-6.0)
It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for the Chargers. In their opener
against Dallas, they blew a fourth quarter lead, while last Sunday they
were 14-3 up at half time only to lose on a last second field goal.
Compensation awaits – LIVE BETTING AT BET365!

RISING THIS WEEK
New England Patriots @ PITTSBURGH STEELERS (-3.0)
Pittsburgh are playing just great right now (2-0 straight up and against
the spread), while injuries to cornerbacks has seen Patriots (1-1) head
coach Belichick having to struggle with a beaten Patriots secondary – LIVE
BETTING AT BET365!

TOP DOG
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (+3.0) @ Denver Broncos
This weekend looks strong for the favourites but it’s surprising to see
Denver favoured by a field goal against Kansas. The way the Chiefs have
looked this season, I can’t believe they’re getting three – LIVE BETTING AT
BET365!

HOME BANKERS
Cleveland Browns @ INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-14.0)
The Browns may have got a surprise win at Green Bay on Sunday, but this is
till a team with a lot of holes (allowed 452 yards to a Packers team
missing WR Jevon Walker). Everyone’s been wondering where the Colts defense
has gone, but this is the game for them to bust out.

A $50 parlay on the above four games pays out $730.59 - which includes a
bet365 bonus of 10%

CHICAGO DEFENSE GETTING NASTY – BEARS NOW 7/2 FOR DIVISION…
Only wish I’d taken the 10/1 for the Chicago Bears to win their division at
the start of the season! It’s only Week 3, but already Chicago are looking
like the team with the best defence and coaching in the division. They may
be as low as 7/2 now, but that still looks a price worth taking,
considering how bad the NFC North is turning out. So far, the Vikings (0-2)
defence has looked better on paper than on the field, while the Packers are
in worse shape. As for the Lions, what can you say about a team that loses
by 32 points to the Bears! This weekend, they face a potentially tricky
game against Cincinnati (2-0). However, this is the toughest defence that
the Bengals have had to face, and it comes on the road.

Chicago Bears to win NFC North @ 7/2
Chicago Bears (+3.0) to beat Cincinnati @ 20/23

bet365 latest NFC North prices … Minnesota 7/5, Detroit 11/5, Chicago 7/2,
Green Bay 9/2

UP TO 50% MORE ON BET365 PARLAYS
Betting purists will say that you should be sticking to single bets, but
this is one way of getting rich cheaply, and there’s nothing wrong with a
speculative wager on the weekend’s games – plus you’re assured of getting
some extra value with our Football Parlay Bonus! Each week, we pay out up
to 50% more on successful NFL & NCAAF parlays on the following 6 markets:

Point Spread, Game Total, First Half Point Spread, Second Half Point
Spread, First Half Total, Second Half Total.

*******
THE ROAD TO DOVER – JUNIOR’S A MONSTER 50/1 FOR VICTORY LANE
Su Sep 25 – 12:30 pm (TNT)/16:30 GMT
The second chapter in the race for the chase continues Sunday, with the
MBNA 400 at the famed ‘Monster Mile’ oval in Dover and, as you’d expect,
we’re already betting on the driver to win this week.

Greg Biffle is looking to complete the sweep after winning the earlier race
at Dover and he’s 8/1 to do so. That’s fair odds for a driver coming back
to a track with winning set up notes, and recent trends are on his side
too. Since 1994, five drivers have swept Dover, the latest being Ryan
Newman (13/2) in 2003. The latter is also interesting this week coming off
his first win of the season, and on a track where his team have won three
of the last five races. Last week’s win over Tony Stewart (5/1) was a
battling performance by Newman who looked intent on the win and didn’t care
how he was going to achieve it. On the other hand, Stewart looked to play
the cautious side and he might have his eyes on a bigger picture (the
Chase) rather than the moment. He deserves praise for his restraint but,
for that reason alone, we’ll leave him out of winning calculations this
week.

Last week’s 5th place finish by Dale Earnhardt Jr was his best for a while
and, it can’t be coincidence that this was his first race with Tony Eury
Jr. back as his crew chief. That should give them momentum coming into this
week, on a track where they had a great season last year, and it wouldn’t
be a major surprise to see Junior back in the winners circle this week. His
current pre-practice price of 50/1 will collapse if all goes to plan later
this week.

bet365 latest MBNA Race Points 400 prices … Tony Stewart 5/1, Ryan Newman
13/2, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle 8/1, Matt Kenseth 13/2, Jimmie Johnson, Kurt
Busch, Matt Kenseth 10/1, others on bet365 website

In our Championship outright betting, we’ve clipped main pick Tony Stewart
into Evens (from 6/4) after his second place finish last week. Our each-way
pick for the title, Rusty Wallace, remains at 14/1, despite coming home a
respectable sixth. As we said last week, the key to success in the chase is
consistent finishes rather than going flat out for the win. Rusty’s 20/1 to
win this week, and he’s sure to be on the premises again.

bet365 latest Championship Outright prices … Tony Stewart Evens, Jimmie
Johnson, Kurt Busch, Greg Biffle 5/1, Matt Kenseth 13/2, Ryan Newman 15/2,
others on bet365 website. Each-way 1/5 odds 1.2.3

GOLF
INTERNATIONALS VALUE AT 11/8 FOR PRESIDENTS CUP
Th Sep 22 – 4:00 pm (ESPN)/20:00 GMT
Fr Sep 23 – 4:00 pm (ESPN)/20:00 GMT
Sa Sep 24 - 4:00 pm (ESPN)/20:00 GMT
Su Sep 25 - 4:00 pm (ESPN)/20:00 GMT
The United States are as short as 4/7 to win this week’s Presidents Cup on
home soil, but there are a number of question marks hanging over Team USA.
World No.1, Tiger Woods (3/1 to top-score for the States), has not played
competitive golf since finishing 40th in the Deutsche Bank Championship,
while Phil Mickelson, who finished down the field in the 84 Lumber Classic,
is not renowned for his team golf. To add to captain Jack Nicklaus’
concerns, star player David Toms was hospitalized with heart problems
during the first round last week. On the rankings, the US are the better
side but, at the odds, the bet’s going on the Internationals at 11/8.

President’s Cup Pick: Internationals @ 11/8

HOME FROM HOME - BACK J J FOR TEXAS OPEN AT 66/1
Several of the players at the front of the betting for this week’s Texas
Open look opposable due to being out of form – 20/1 favourite Chad Campbell
has posted only one top-ten since April – so it’s time to get stuck into
some genuine each way shots at bigger prices. And, as Texans (and Texas
residents) do particularly well in this event (last year’s winner Bart
Bryant was the 16th Texan to win his home event), we’ll pin our hopes this
week on a trio of natives

J J Henry reached a landmark birthday (30) in April, which is often an
incentive for a player to up his game, and he’s since put in some decent
finishes (4th in the Reno-Tahoe). He’s still looking to break his Tour duck
but, with two top-5’s in four years on this track, this could be the week
he does it. He rates a cracking each way bet at 66/1, along with
Texas-born-and-bred, Hunter Mahan (80/1), who also looks to have the
measure of the course (Tied 17th 2003, 5th 2004).

Finally, Harrison Frazar looks too good to miss at a juicy 80/1. He’s yet
to fire in this event, but produced one of his better performances of the
season last time out in the Lumber Classic, finishing with a 64 to grab
17th place. As he’s currently 135th in the money list, he could do with a
few dollars this week to ensure his automatic playing rights for next
season (only the top-125 at the end of the season qualify). That should be
the incentive he needs to at least get into our five places this week. Of
course, once the event tees off, we’ll have live in-play betting right up
to the final putt on Sunday night.

Texas Open Three Off The Tee: J J Henry @ 66/1; Hunter Mahan @ 80/1;
Harrison Frazar @ 80/1 (Each-way ¼ odds 1.2.3.4.5.)

FOOTBALL
********
CHELSEA TO LEAVE IT LATE AGAIN AT 11/8
Last week we flagged up the fact that Chelsea have been winning their games
late on, after grinding down their opposition in the second half. This
resulted in a nice 3/1 pay-out on the Draw / Chelsea double result in their
match against Charlton, and similar betting tactics can pay off again this
week in their match against Aston Villa.

Villa (12/1) are unlikely to upset Chelsea, but they’ve done enough in
their previous two away matches this season to suggest that they can keep
the score line respectable. And, since Chelsea have yet to concede in the
Premiership (and Villa have failed to score in their last three visits to
the Bridge), we can also be confident about backing them to win to nil at
11/8 (another winning bet last week at 6/4). The game is not live on TV
but, as we bet all Premiership matches ‘In-Play’, we’re also giving you the
option to get stuck into the Blues before the start of the second half,
when they’re likely to be a better price than the current 2/9.

WHO WILL SCORE FIRST AGAINST CHELSEA?
With six games, eighteen points, and a big fat zero in the goals against
column, the Premiership title race already looks over (currently 2/7
Chelsea). And, with the Chelsea clean sheet run likely to go on for at
least another week, we’re betting on which side will score first against
them in the Premiership this season. Saturday’s potential ‘lambs to the
slaughter’, Aston Villa, are 6/4 to breach the watertight defence first,
with a goal-shy Liverpool (October 2nd) next best at 7/4. With matches
against Bolton (13/2), Everton (9/1), and Blackburn (28/1) also on the
horizon, it’s difficult to find a winner in this ‘market’. In fact, we
might have to wait until Man United (16/1) on November 6th to get paid
out!

START YOUR ACCA AT THE BRIDGE
Chelsea may be on the skinny side this weekend, but they can still get our
Premiership accas off to a great start. Betting purists will say that you
shouldn’t be placing multiple bets, but this is one way of getting rich
cheaply, and there’s nothing wrong with a speculative wager on a Saturday
afternoon – plus you’re assured of getting some extra value with our
Premiership Accumulator Bonus! This weekend, Chelsea are home bankers, but
the remaining selections are all fancied to win on their travels. Charlton
(6/4) have been phenomenal on the road this season (three out of three),
and they look set for another nice away day against the Baggies. Wigan have
adjusted to life in the top flight rather well, and are a touch of value at
3/1 to beat a struggling Everton, while Liverpool (11/10) can get the
better of Birmingham in Saturdays’ live lunchtime encounter (ko 12.45). A
£25 acca on all four selections this weekend pays out £673.75 - that
includes a bet365 bonus of 5% (up to 60% on offer every weekend in the
Premiership).

Weekend Premiership Picks:

Draw / Chelsea @ 7/2; Chelsea to win to nil @ 11/8
Charlton to beat West Brom @ 6/4
Wigan to beat Everton @ 3/1
Liverpool to beat Birmingham @ 11/10
4-fold on Chelsea (2/9), Charlton (6/4), Wigan (3/1) and Liverpool
(11/10)

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON – DUBAWI 7/4 FOR QEII STAKES GLORY
There’s no doubt that Dubawi has the class to win the Queen Elizabeth
Stakes (4.20), and he’s our 7/4 market leader to emulate his sire Dubai
Millennium with victory in Britain’s most prestigious mile race. Original
fears that the ground was going to be fast have been allayed by recent
rain, but connections would still like to see even more before race day.
There was plenty of give underfoot when the Godolphin horse won the Irish
Guineas and last time out in France, but he was all at sea on a firm
surface in the 2000 Guineas back in May.

That said, it could be worth taking a chance on Starcraft at 9/4. The
Aussie import was top-class Down Under, and finally showed the Europeans
what he was capable of when making all to rout his rivals in the Group 1
Prix du Moulin at Longchamp at the beginning of September. Similar tactics
are likely to be employed on Saturday, and he’s fancied to pull clear of
his rivals once he meets the rising ground at Newmarket.

bet365 latest Queen Elizabeth II Stakes prices … Dubawi 7/4, Starcraft 9/4,
Rakti 9/4, Mullins Bay, Chic 10/1, others on bet365 website

LET’S GO NATIVE – CORAL’S THE ONE TO BE ON
There’s a cracking jumps card for the time of year at Market Rasen on
Saturday, which (providing the ground is suitable) could feature the
reappearance of 2004 Stayers Hurdle winner Iris’s Gift in the novice chase
(2.45), The Jonjo O’Neil eight-year-old is expected to make up into a
top-class staying chaser this season, and has already been well-backed for
the Gold Cup (now 20/1). A word of warning, however, he’s almost certainly
going to need the race on his first run since March, in which case the
Nicky Richards-trained Native Coral looks the one to be on. Trainer Peter
Bowen has a great record at the track, and his Football Crazy can follow up
last year’s win in the opening handicap hurdle (2.10).

CASH IN WITH OUR CHANNEL 4 OFFER
Channel 4 cameras will be showing four races from the meeting at Market
Rasen (as well as three from Haydock), which is great news if you can find
the winner of any of the televised races here at bet365. Back a winner at
4/1, or bigger, and we’ll give you a free bet (up to £50) on the next live
Channel 4 race.

Sat Sep 17 - 21.00 BST (SS2)
Sun Sep 18 - 20.00 BST (SS2)
This week’s US Tour event is played at the monster Mystic Rock course,
which measures in at around 7,500 yards (live In-Play betting throughout).
That suggests we should be looking for a big hitter, and I’ve no hesitation
in playing up my each-way winnings from Charles Howell to find the frame
again this week at 40/1. Last time out in Boston, the lanky American
finished fourth (tipped up at 50/1), following on from a 5th place in the
International and a respectable 15th in the USPGA. His first look at Mystic
Rock resulted in a 25th finish, and he should be able to improve on that
this week.

Jesper Parnevik also found the frame last time out (tipped at 80/1) and, as
he was 5th on this track a couple of years ago, he too can make the frame
at a stand-out 66/1. The final pick goes to Frank Lickliter at a massive
each-way price of 125/1. Ok, so you have to go back a way to find his best
form, but his last three starts here read 2nd, 10th and 9th so there must
be a chance he’ll turn it on again this week. Our favourite is Vijay Singh
at 5/1 (11/2 enhanced win only market), but his recent final round
performances have been weak by his standards, while Mickelson (9/1) may
well be just lumbering up for next week’s Presidents Cup by playing here.

84 Lumber Classic Three Off The Tee: Charles Howell @ 40/1; Jesper Parnevik

MARCO’S VALUE AT 4/1 TO LIFT IRISH PRIZE
Irish Greyhound Derby
Sa Sep 17 - 9.45 pm, live on (SS3)
What an epic final we have in store for the Irish Greyhound Derby! Not only
do we have the winners of the English (Westmead Hawk) and Scottish Derbys
(Droops Marco) in the field for the first time ever, but also last year’s
Irish derby runner-up Droopys Maldini. And the betting suggests that it’s
going to be close, but Maldini is favoured on the back of some awesome runs
in the competition, including a best of the competition 29.47 seconds in
his semi when beating Westmead Hawk into second.

However, that’s reflected in his current price of Evens, so the value could
lie elsewhere. On the their semi final-running there’s no reason why the
Hawk (9/4) can beat the favourite now, but there must still be a chance
that he can reproduce his brilliant Wimbledon form on the track. As he’s
already been recommended ante post we’re not going to desert him now, but
if you’re still to have a bet, the value could lie with Droopys Marco at
4/1. Marco comes into the final as the only unbeaten qualifier and was
unlucky not to reach the English final after finding all sorts of trouble
in his semi. As an Irish dog he’s almost certainly going to be shorter on
the night.

Irish Greyhound Derby Pick: Droopys Marco @ 4/1 (already advised: Westmead
Hawk @ 5/2)

2/1 Offer - back the winner of the big race (or any of the other 6 live sky
races on Saturday night) at 2/1 or bigger, and you can look forward to a
free bet on the next live Sky dog race! See site for full details

PARTNERS CAN BE MUSIC AT 20/1…
Ayr Gold Cup
Sa Sep 17 - 3.40 pm, live on Channel 4
The Ayr Gold Cup (6f) looks to be a bit of a puzzle to solve at this stage
with the final field not known until after the ballot on Thursday. The
current going is good-to-firm with little rain forecast, which could
scupper the chances of the well-backed current 9/1 co-favourites Continent,
Intrepid Jack and Out After Dark. You’ve also got the draw to factor in, so
the best bet could be to a) wait for the outcome of the Silver Cup, run a
day earlier on Friday (the winner of both races has been drawn in the same
third of the course in eight of the last ten years), and then b) make a bee
line for bet365 straight away for the best price.

Providing they get a good draw, my two against the field are Partners in
Jazz and Philharmonic, both currently cracking 20/1 shots. Partners in Jazz
finished third in the Totesport International (7f) in June, and the
runner-up, Goodricke, has since come out and won the Group 1 Sprint Cup. As
all his best form has been over 6f, he must have a great shout, while
Philarmonic comes into this on his head second to stablemate Fonthill Road
(12/1) in May. That form reads well now (he’s a stone better off), and he
too will appreciate the return to 6f.

Ayr Gold Cup Picks: Partners in Jazz & Philarmonic (currently both 20/1)

Channel 4 Offer - back the winner of the big race (or any of the other live
Channel 4 races on Saturday) at 4/1 or bigger, and you can look forward to
a free bet on the next live Channel 4 race! See site for full details

PATRIOTS 5/1 FOR RECORD TITLE CHASE
The new American football season got underway last weekend, and current
title holders New England were one of nine favourites to win and cover the
spread (handicap). The Patriots are going for their fourth Super Bowl in
five years, and their third in a row, a feat that’s never been achieved.
They now share favouritism with the Indianapolis Colts at 5/1, who beat the
Baltimore Ravens on the road (away from home).

Each year there seems to be one team that improves dramatically to go on to
reach the play-offs. Last year it was San Diego, and last weekend was
notable in that four of the eight teams that propped up their divisions
last year made a winning start. In particular, Miami and Tampa Bay gained
confidence-boosting wins over Denver and Minnesota respectively, and they
could both be worth following again this weekend. The Dolphins are
currently 6-point underdogs (+6) to beat the New York Jets, which means
that they have to win by more than 6 points to cover the spread, while
Tampa Bay are 2-5 point favourites (-2.5) at home to the Buffalo Bills.

Of course, betting the spread is not the only way of having an interest on
the game. We’ve also got match betting (money line) and game totals (over /
under the total points scored in the game), but the real excitement is
provided by our in-play service which is available straight after kick off
(two live Sky games this Sunday).

One of the most popular bets on the NFL is the parlay (accumulator),
whereby you combine two or more teams to win. Each week, we offer a bonus
on this form of betting of up to 50% (winning 12, 13 and 14 team parlays),
which means you’re getting more value for money. This weeks’ suggested
parlay is on the following spreads:

Philadelphia Eagles (-13.5); Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5); Miami Dolphins
(+6.0); San Diego Chargers (+3.0); New York Giants (-3.0). All teams are
currently priced at 10/11, and a £25 parlay pays out £381.89 - which
includes a bet365 bonus of 15%

FOOTBALL
********
UNITED TO NICK IT AT 8/5
Liverpool v Man Utd
Su Sep 18 - Noon, live on (SS1)
There’s some tasty Premiership action to get stuck into this weekend, and
the big game between Liverpool and Man United is no exception (14 live
in-play markets), We’ve got United down as marginal 8/5 favourites, but
the best bet has to be on the total goals market, with under 2.5 the
recommendation at 10/11. It’s surprising how many times the goals go under
when two of the bigger teams play each other and, judging on Liverpool’s
start to the season, they will set out to contain United. In their three
league games so far, they’ve conceded only one goal, and their two 0-0 away
draws mean that they have already achieved more clean sheets in away games
than they did for the whole of last season. United did the double over
Liverpool last season with a pair of one-goal wins, and a similar scoreline
looks on the cards.

CHELSEA IN THE SECOND HALF AT 3/1
Charlton did us a favour last week by beating Birmingham (15/8), but they
have it all to do to maintain their unbeaten run against Chelsea on
Saturday (will they ever lose a game?). Chelsea are 4/7 to win but, as they
don’t tend to kill-off opponents until the second half, it might be worth
waiting till half-time (or In-Play) to back them, when they will likely be
a bigger price. For the same reason, a bet on the Draw / Chelsea double
result is also worth a punt at 3/1. There is also a strong reason to back
them to win to nil at 6/4. Chelsea are yet to concede in the league, and
have won their last three against Charlton 1-0, 4-0 and 1-0.

SUNDERLAND TO SEE THE LIGHTS AT 11/8
The rest of this weekend’s games look tricky to predict. Only Chelsea and
Arsenal (2/5) are odds on to win, but Sunderland are fancied to get their
first win of the season at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats did well to
contain Chelsea for the best part of an hour last week, and look
over-priced at 11/8 to beat a struggling West Brom side. With Arsenal
looking home bankers against Everton, a £25 acca on all four selections
this weekend pays out £356.61 for a £25 stake - that includes a bet365
bonus of 5% (up to 60% on offer every weekend in the Premiership).

Weekend Premiership Picks:

United to bt Liverpool @ 8/5; United to win 1-0 @ 13/2
Chelsea to bt Charlton @ Half Time or In-Play price; Draw / Chelsea @ 3/1;
Chelsea to win to nil @ 6/4
Sunderland to bt West Brom @ 11/8
4-fold on United (8/5), Chelsea (4/7), Arsenal (2/5), Sunderland (11/8)

The Illinois Swing continues with the John Deere at the TPC at Deere Run,
where big names are a bit thin on the ground. The highest ranked players in
the field are world No.10 David Toms (15/2) and No.16 Stewart Cink (13/1*)
- plus teenage sensation Michelle Wie, who is sure to get plenty of
attention (7/2 to make the cut this week). However, with the Open only 8
days away, they may not be giving this event 100%, preferring to experiment
with their games ahead of next week. So, the player to bet on this week is
last week’s ‘failure’ Mark Hensby (20/1), who should be given another
chance to show that his US Open tie for third was no fluke. It was only an
opening 75 at last week’s Western Open that robbed him of another top-10
finish (still finished 16th), and he looks a great bet at 20/1 to
successfully defend his title. Live In-play betting available throughout.

BIFFLE TO DELIVER THE GOODS AGAIN
*********************************
Su Jul 10 – 3:00 pm (NBC)/19:00 GMT
The NASCAR circuit heads to Illinois on Sunday, as teams battle in the USG
SheetRock 400 from Chicagoland Speedway. And coming into the race as
favorite is Greg Biffle (11/2), followed by Tony Stewart (13/2) and Jimmie
Johnson (7/1). Biffle has a lot going for him this week. He’s won a
series-high five races in 17 starts on differing types of tracks this
season, including California and Michigan, both of which are similar to the
layout at Chicago. Johnson finished sixth at Daytona last week to become
the only driver to score 12 top-10 finishes in the first 17 races of 2005,
and is one of only four drivers to score three top-10 finishes at
Chicagoland (his 3.0 average finish is the best of all the top drivers).
Daytona winner, Tony Stewart, has advanced from 10th to third in the
rankings in his last three races, and logged a victory here last year to go
with a second in 2003 and a third in 2002. All three are major candidates
to win this week but, due to his achievements this season, Biffle is the
pick to deliver the goods once again on a cookie cutter track. Live
coverage of the USG Sheetrock 400 begins Sunday, July 10th at 3pm Eastern
Daylight Time and we’ll have live in-play betting available.

TOUGH START FOR THE PATRIOTS
****************************
Three Super Bowl championships in four years, 32 victories from their last
34 games, and a 25-8-1 (75%) mark against the spread, yet the New England
Patriots are as big as 6/1 to win the Super Bowl. That’s a bigger price
than the Eagles (11/2) and on the same mark as the Colts. To understand
this we need to look at the schedule. The Patriots open at home where they
are minus 7.5 against the Raiders and, as the Patriots are 15-4 (79%)
against the spread at home, this line could well move to around the 9 mark.
After that they travel to Carolina in Week 2, before staying on the road in
Week 3 to meet the revenge-minded Steelers. After a home game in Week 4
against the Chargers, they’re on the road again against the Falcons and
Broncos in Weeks 5 and 6. That’s four road games in five weeks, and it’s
not until Week 11, when they host the Saints, that they face an easy game.
On the positive side the Patriots have Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Corey
Dillon and a healthy Deion Branch, but that may not be enough to overcome
their schedule.

ROUGH RIDE FOR SASKATCHEWAN
***************************
Live in-play betting - Sa Jul 9 – 7:00 pm (CBC)/23:00 GMT
The Saskatchewan Roughriders (2-0) are paying the price for their
hard-fought 23-21 CFL conquest of the host Hamilton Tiger-Cats last
Saturday. The result of that tough physical game is a catalogue of injuries
which could plague them as they go into this Saturday’s clash with Toronto
(7pm ET, live in-play betting available). That is especially true on
offence with wide receiver Matt Dominguez set to miss the game due to an
injured knee. With Dominguez sidelined for at least one game, the
Roughriders are expected to activate Travis Moore, who was the team's
leading receiver last year. However, with doubts over the fitness of
several other key players, including centre Jeremy O'Day, the Toronto
Argonauts (22-16 winners over Calgary last week) look a good bet to cover
the handicap.

Week 3 Pick: Toronto (-3.0) @ 10/11

BILLY’S BEST IN THE WEST

Sa Jul 2 – 3:00 pm (USA)/19:00 GMT
Su Jul 3 – 3:00 pm (USA)/19:00 GMT
For this week’s US Tour event, the Cialis Western Open, there’s been
plenty
of interest in Billy Mayfair at our best price of 66/1, and it’s not
difficult to see why. He won here in 1995, has five top-10 finishes this
year (a big improvement on last year), and shot a closing 5-under par 66
in
last week’s Barclays Classic. He does tend to have one bad round per
tournament but, at the price, he’s worth a bet this week. Also worth an
interest is Aussie Mark Hensby at 40/1, who might be ready to win again
after his fine performance in the US Open (tied for third). As a
‘fledgling’ pro, Hensby spent several weeks sleeping in his car next to
the
course at Cog Hill, and this is an event he would dearly love to win
(third
here last year). Other players fancied to play well this week are Jim
Furyk
(10/1) and Scott Verplank (25/1). Both have excellent form on the course,
but are too short in the betting considering they rarely seem to win
these
days. A better bet could be on favorite Tiger Woods (10/3, could be
bigger
in-play!), whose course form is second to none (winner in 1997, 1999 and
2003).

Western Open Picks: Billy Mayfair 66/1, Mark Hensby 40/1, Tiger Woods @
10/3 (Each-way ¼ odds 1.2.3.4.5).

JOHNSON CAN BE A SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL
**************************************
Sa Jul 2 – 7:00 pm (NBC)/23:00 GMT
The dash to the chase begins this Saturday under the lights of Daytona,
with just ten races left for Cup drivers to put themselves in the running
for the Championship (top ten drivers in points qualify, and all others
within 400 points). If the chase were to begin this week there would be
some surprise omissions, including Jeff Gordon (7/2) and Dale Earnhardt
Jr.
(5/1), but that could all change this week. Gordon and Junior are both
going back to a track where they have the confidence to win. They, along
with Michael Waltrip (15/2) have dominated the restrictor plate races
over
the years. Most recently, Gordon has been the king, with wins in four of
the last five plate races (including Talladega) and, despite his recent
troubles, is a worthy favourite to win this week. Barring mechanical
failure last week, he’d be coming in this week fresh from a victory.

That race was won by Tony Stewart (8/1), who is yet to win here, but he
could easily break his Daytona duck this week judging on the way he’s
performing recently. However, this week’s bet will be going on another
driver who’s yet to win here – Jimmie Johnson (6/1). Johnson lost his
overall point lead last week (to Greg Biffle) and will be looking to get
it
back. In his last 5 Daytona starts, he has two fifths, a second, and a
third place finish, and he should have learned enough by now from his
team-mate (and boss), Jeff Gordon, to know how to win. For a long shot
this
week, I like the look of Dale Jarrett (25/1). He’s had four wins here (as
recently as 2000) and four poles, and could be a good bet for the place
money at least.

Nigel’s Checkered Flag: Jimmie Johnson @ 6/1; Dale Jarrett @ 25/1
(each-way)

Latest bet365 Pepsi 400 prices … Jeff Gordon 7/2, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 5/1,

others on bet365 website. Each-way ¼ odds 1.2.3

CALGARY CAN OPEN IN STYLE
************************
Fr Jul 1 – 9:00 pm (TSN)/Jul 2 – 01:00 GMT
The Calgary Stampeders will kick-off their CFL 2005 regular season on
Friday, July 1st (Canada Day) at home to the defending Grey Cup Champion
Toronto Argonauts. The Argos did not play well in Week 1, losing 20-27 to
the Lions (wide receiver Arland Bruce dropped a potential game-tying
touchdown in the final minute), so the pick has to be Calgary in receipt
of
three points. In Friday’s other game, the Saskatchewan Roughriders take
on
the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. After their demolition of Winnipeg (42-15), we
make the Roughriders 3.5-point favourites, however, Winnipeg were simply
awful last week, and the Tiger-Cats defence will provide a much sterner
test.

Week 2 Picks: Calgary (+3.0), Hamilton (+3.5) - both teams at 10/11.

Latest bet365 CFL Grey Cup prices … Edmonton 11/5, Montreal 23/10, BC

FEDERER TO GIVE IT OUT STRIAGHT
****************************
Semi-Finals
Fr Jul 1 – 8:00 am (ESPN2)/04:00 GMT
A repeat of last year’s Wimbledon final showdown is very much on the
cards,
with both Andy Roddick (1/5) and Roger Federer (1/8) both long odds on
chances to win their semi-final matches. The 2004 decider was a good
match,
and one in which Roddick gave Federer his toughest test in two years. He
might well have won had it not been for the rain delays (part and parcel
of
SW19) which certainly aided Federer on the day. However, there’s no
getting
away form the fact that Federer has regularly beaten his rival over the
years (8-1 on the head to heads, with six of those wins coming in
straight
sets). Roddick may have won at Queens again this year, but Federer looks
nailed on for victory on his favourite surface. Federer to win 3-0. On
the
day, we’ll have live 9 In-Play betting markets!

NFL
***
Week 1 Review
Last week’s NFL results may have left some of you scratching your heads.
The biggest shock of all was San Francisco’s upset of the Rams. St Louis
were one of the best backed teams last week, resulting in the line moving
to 6.5 points (from 4.5) just before kick off. Other upsets were provided
by Tampa Bay, whose defense was stellar on the road to Minnesota, and Miami
(v Denver), who beat the line by 28 points in their first game under new
coach Nick Saban. Carolina were also beaten as 6 point favorites by a
Saints team who played better ball on the night due to their circumstances.

Week 2 Matchups
For this week’s matchups, we at least have last week’s results to go on,
rather than a bunch of inconsequential preseason games and the
pre-conceived ideas surrounding teams going into the new season. Let’s hope
this week’s results are less volatile.

HOME BANKERS
San Francisco 49ers @ PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (-13.5)
Last week’s result flatters the 49ers – they managed less than 40 yards on
the ground for that game - and I’m expecting Philadelphia to give them a
good pounding this weekend.

RISING THIS WEEK
MIAMI DOLPHINS (+6.0) @ N Y Jets
It’s still early days for Miami, but their defense was awesome last week
under their new coach, and they could carry that confidence over to their
divisional game against the Jets – LIVE BETTING AT BET365!

ON THE REBOUND
ST LOUIS RAMS (Pick) @ Arizona Cardinals
The Rams are given a chance to atone for their surprising loss last week.
They edged the 49ers out in every aspect of the game, and can score heavily
against a suspect Arizona defense.

DOG OF THE WEEK
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (+9.0) @ Indianapolis Colts
The popular Colts are always a heavily backed team, which may account for
the 9-point line this week. A double-digit win might be asking too much,
however, against the Jags who handily won and covered last week – LIVE
BETTING AT BET365!

TOTAL OF THE WEEKEND
Buffalo Bills @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (UNDER 35.5 POINTS)
The Bucs were impressive against the Vikings last week and, if their
defense stands up again this week (gave up just 26 yards rushing), it will
be a low-scoring affair in Tampa this upcoming Sunday.

UP TO 50% MORE ON BET365 PARLAYS
*******************************
Of course, one of the most popular bets on the NFL is the parlay, whereby
you combine two or more teams to win. Each week, we offer a bonus on this
form of betting of up to 50% (winning 12, 13 and 14 team parlays), which
means you’re getting more value for money.

COUNTIN’ DOWN
Sylvania 300
Su Sep 18 – 12:30 pm (TNT)
Nextel’s “Chase for the Cup” is all set, with 10 teams going head-to-head
for 10 races to capture the season title. The chase begins this Sunday at
Loudon International Speedway, N.H., in the Sylvania 300, and we’ve got all
the latest odds at your disposal.

The points have been reset for each of the participants in the chase, with
the massive lead built up by Tony Stewart over the course of the previous
26 races being shrunk to a 5-point margin over second-place Greg Biffle,
with 10th placed Ryan Newman (who struggled to make the chase) only 45
points adrift. All in all, the chase is up for grabs, with any driver
having an opportunity to win it, but that’s not to say we can’t find a
betting angle and cash in on some great value.

WALLACE A GREAT BET FOR THE CHASE AT 14/1
The important thing to remember is that the chase is an endurance test and
is not necessarily about who wins each race. This is evident from last year
when Jimmie Johnson won four races down the stretch but, as he’d dig
himself into a hole in the first 4 races, they counted for nothing. What
you’re looking for is ‘Mr Consistency’, and no-one has been more so than
Rusty Wallace this season. Many drivers have had more wins, and top-5’s,
than Wallace, but not many have stayed on the track as many times as him
(seven top-5’s and 14 top-10’s). Patience is a virtue that Wallace has
mastered, and that makes him a great outside bet for the title at 14/1 with
bet365.

11/2 STEWART WORTH TAKING
Of course, we’d be foolish to ignore the other guys in the chase and, in
particular, Tony Stewart, who’s a worthy favorite at 6/4. Stewart was the
hottest driver in the summer months, winning five races in a seven-race
stretch, when his No.20 car was nearly invincible. There’s a danger that he
may have peaked too early, but he’s also going to be nearly-favorite at
each of the ten tracks that he’ll visit. He has wins at Loudon (2), Dover
(2), Charlotte, Martinsville, Atlanta and Homestead (site of the season
finale) – twice. He’s 11/2 to win this week, and that looks a price worth
taking.

Don’t forget to come back to us once the race goes live (12.30pm / ET
Sunday), when we’ll have live In-Play betting.

Nigel’s Checkered Flag: Tony Stewart @ 11/2

2005 Nextel Cup Championship Picks: Rusty Wallace @ 14/1 (Each-way 1/5
1-2-3) – save on Tony Stewart @ 6/4

Su Sep 18 - 4:00 pm (ESPN)/20:00 GMT

Our favorite is Vijay Singh
at 5/1 (11/2 enhanced win only market), but his recent final round
performances have been weak by his standards, while Mickelson (9/1) may
well be just lumbering up for next week’s Presidents Cup by playing here.

84 Lumber Classic Three Off The Tee: Charles Howell @ 40/1; Jesper Parnevik
@ 66/1; Frank Lickliter @ 125/1 (Each-way ¼ odds 1.2.3.4.5.)

MARCO'S VALUE AT 4/1 TO LIFT IRISH PRIZE
Irish Greyhound Derby
  Sa Sep 17 - 9.45 pm, live on (SS3)
What an epic final we have in store for the Irish Greyhound Derby! Not only
do we have the winners of the English (Westmead Hawk) and Scottish Derbys
(Droops Marco) in the field for the first time ever, but also last year's
Irish derby runner-up Droopys Maldini. And the betting suggests that it's
going to be close, but Maldini is favoured on the back of some awesome runs
in the competition, including a best of the competition 29.47 seconds in
his semi when beating Westmead Hawk into second.

However, that's reflected in his current price of Evens, so the value could
lie elsewhere. On the their semi final-running there's no reason why the
Hawk (9/4) can beat the favourite now, but there must still be a chance
that he can reproduce his brilliant Wimbledon form on the track. As he's
already been recommended ante post we're not going to desert him now, but
if you're still to have a bet, the value could lie with Droopys Marco at
4/1. Marco comes into the final as the only unbeaten qualifier and was
unlucky not to reach the English final after finding all sorts of trouble
in his semi. As an Irish dog he's almost certainly going to be shorter on

PARTNERS CAN BE MUSIC AT 20/1.
You've also got the draw to factor in, so
the best bet could be to a) wait for the outcome of the Silver Cup, run a
day earlier on Friday (the winner of both races has been drawn in the same
third of the course in eight of the last ten years), and then b) make a bee
line for bet365 straight away for the best price.

That form reads well now (he's a stone better off), and he
too will appreciate the return to 6f.

The Patriots are going for their fourth Super Bowl in
five years, and their third in a row, a feat that's never been achieved.

Of course, betting the spread is not the only way of having an interest on
the game. We've also got match betting (money line) and game totals (over /
under the total points scored in the game), but the real excitement is
provided by our in-play service which is available straight after kick off
(two live Sky games this Sunday).

One of the most popular bets on the NFL is the parlay (accumulator),
whereby you combine two or more teams to win. Each week, we offer a bonus
on this form of betting of up to 50% (winning 12, 13 and 14 team parlays),
which means you're getting more value for money. This weeks' suggested
parlay is on the following spreads:

Philadelphia Eagles (-13.5); Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5); Miami Dolphins
(+6.0); San Diego Chargers (+3.0); New York Giants (-3.0). All teams are
currently priced at 10/11, and a £25 parlay pays out £381.89 - which
includes a bet365 bonus of 15%

UNITED TO NICK IT AT 8/5
Liverpool v Man Utd
Su Sep 18 -  Noon, live on (SS1)
There's some tasty Premiership action to get stuck into this weekend, and
the big game between Liverpool and Man United is no exception (14 live
in-play markets),  We've got United down as marginal 8/5 favourites, but
the best bet has to be on the total goals market, with under 2.5 the
recommendation at 10/11. It's surprising how many times the goals go under
when two of the bigger teams play each other and, judging on Liverpool's
start to the season, they will set out to contain United. In their three
league games so far, they've conceded only one goal, and their two 0-0 away
draws mean that they have already achieved more clean sheets in away games
than they did for the whole of last season.

Chelsea are 4/7 to win but, as they
don't tend to kill-off opponents until the second half, it might be worth
waiting till half-time (or In-Play) to back them, when they will likely be
a bigger price.

SUNDERLAND TO SEE THE LIGHTS AT 11/8
The rest of this weekend's games look tricky to predict.

Chelsea to bt Charlton @ Half Time or In-Play price; Draw / Chelsea @ 3/1;
Chelsea to win to nil @ 6/4
Sunderland to bt West Brom @ 11/8
4-fold on United (8/5), Chelsea (4/7), Arsenal (2/5), Sunderland (11/8)

Get in the game and be lucky!
